People, not diagnoses
Our residents come to us with a wide range of conditions and backgrounds. What they share is a desire to grow, to belong, and to live as independently as possible. We see each person as a whole human being — not a case to manage — and we build our support around their individual strengths, goals, and pace.
Intellectual disabilities
We support individuals with intellectual disabilities in developing daily living skills, building social connections, and participating meaningfully in their community.
Developmental disabilities
Our program is designed to meet individuals with developmental disabilities where they are — providing structured support that evolves as their skills and confidence grow.
Traumatic brain injuries
Recovery from a traumatic brain injury is a long journey. We provide the consistent, patient support that helps individuals rebuild skills and adapt to life after injury.
Serious mental illness
For individuals living with serious mental illness, stability and structure are foundational. Our residential setting and skilled staff provide both — along with compassionate, ongoing support.
Autism spectrum disorder
We support individuals on the autism spectrum with individualized care plans that respect their unique needs, communication styles, and goals for independence.
Dual diagnoses
Many of our residents live with both a mental illness and a developmental disability. Our team is experienced in supporting the complexity of dual diagnoses with integrated, coordinated care.

If a condition makes it difficult for someone to live independently, we want to help. We work with individuals and their families to determine whether Aspenwood is the right fit.
Funding and coverage
We accept A&D and DD Waivers
Aspenwood Residential Rehabilitation is proud to accept both the Aged and Disabled (A&D) Waiver and the Developmental Disabilities (DD) Waiver through Idaho Medicaid. These programs help make residential rehabilitation services accessible to those who need them most.
A&D Waiver — Aged and Disabled Waiver
The Aged and Disabled (A&D) Waiver is an Idaho Medicaid program that provides home and community-based services to individuals who are elderly or have physical disabilities and who would otherwise require nursing facility-level care. The waiver allows eligible individuals to receive the support they need in a residential setting rather than an institutional one — helping them maintain dignity, independence, and connection to their community. Aspenwood accepts the A&D Waiver as a funding source for qualifying residents.
DD Waiver — Developmental Disabilities Waiver
The Developmental Disabilities (DD) Waiver is an Idaho Medicaid program designed to support individuals with developmental disabilities — including intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and related conditions — who require a level of care equivalent to an intermediate care facility. The DD Waiver funds a range of home and community-based services that help individuals build skills, increase independence, and participate fully in their communities. Aspenwood is an approved DD Waiver provider and welcomes residents whose services are funded through this program.
